For me the southwest desert states really sum up my idea of America. It’s a landscape I didn’t experience growing up. Exploring this is really only possible by car so it seemed natural (and practical) to shoot from the vehicle. It is the relationship between car and landscape I want to explore. I enjoy the use of movement in most of the images, it doesn’t make shooting any easier but adds unity to the series.
